EMDR therapy across BC ยท In person and online
ClearPath is a practice focused only on EMDR therapy. Our Registered Clinical Counsellors help you process painful memories so they stop running your life, in person in Victoria or online anywhere in BC.
You're not imagining it
You've talked about it for years, and it still hits just as hard.
Your body reacts before your mind can catch up: racing heart, tight chest, freezing.
Certain places, smells, or voices pull you right back.
You're exhausted from always being on guard.
You know it wasn't your fault, but it still feels like it was.
Sleep, relationships, or work are starting to slip.
These are normal responses to experiences that were too much at the time. They're also very treatable.
Why an EMDR-only practice
Most clinics offer EMDR as one option among many. At ClearPath, it's all we do. Every counsellor is EMDR-trained, and every part of the experience, from your first call to your last session, is built around it.
What EMDR can help with
For single events or long stretches that left a lasting mark.
Ease the old fears that keep your body on high alert.
Gently work through what you lived through growing up.
Soften the moments of loss that still feel stuck.
For births that didn't go the way you hoped or felt safe.
Car accidents, surgeries, hospital stays, and scary diagnoses.
Rebuild a sense of trust after someone close let you down.
Loosen the grip of fears around flying, needles, driving, and more.
How EMDR works
When something overwhelming happens, the memory can get stored in a raw, unprocessed way. That's why it can still feel like it's happening now.
Step 1
You build calming tools and feel safe before touching anything hard.
Step 2
While you briefly bring a memory to mind, your counsellor guides bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or tones).
Step 3
The memory stays, but the charge fades. It feels like the past.
You don't have to tell every detail of what happened. You stay awake, aware, and in control the whole time.
EMDR is recommended by the World Health Organization for the treatment of PTSD.

FAQ
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps your brain reprocess memories that got stuck. Using gentle back-and-forth stimulation, like eye movements or tapping, it helps a memory lose its emotional charge so it feels more like the past.
No. EMDR doesn't require you to describe everything that happened. You can share as little as you need to, and your counsellor will check in with you along the way.
It depends on you and what you're working through, so we can't give a fixed number. Some people notice shifts within a few sessions, while others benefit from longer support. Your counsellor will talk with you about progress as you go.
Yes. Research and clinical experience suggest online EMDR can be effective. Your counsellor can guide eye movements on screen or teach you self-tapping, and many people appreciate doing this work from home.
We offer in-person sessions in Victoria and online sessions anywhere in BC. Clients in Kelowna and the Okanagan see us by secure video, and we're planning to welcome more BC communities soon.
Many extended health plans cover services from Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs). Coverage varies, so check your plan. We provide receipts you can submit for reimbursement.
Read a little about each counsellor and notice who you feel drawn to. If you're not sure, tell us what you're looking for in your free consult and we'll suggest someone. You're always welcome to switch if the fit doesn't feel right.
EMDR is a well-researched, widely used therapy. It's normal to feel tired or a bit stirred up after some sessions, which is why we spend time building calming tools first. You can pause or stop at any point.
